Lanaya - Templar Assassin

This is pretty much my all-time favorite hero in DotA. It's Meld ability to dodge any incoming, magic or physical damage, makes it a 100% avoidability, just make sure they don't see where you Meld. And it's offensive effect, makes the move quite deadly. In addition, it's first skill, Refraction, gives you a high amount of damage while making you harmless against any damage. While the first and the second gives you a high amount of damage, it's second also pierces through the enemy's armor and gives you an even higher penalty on the target, but keep in mind it has to be in ranged. Meanwhile, it's passive helps it to creep and farm easily, and her ult is pretty badass if I say so my self.

Meld is pretty much a double edged sword (thanks for the correction) cause you get invisibility, yet you are prone to AoE attacks such as hook, and arrow. Low HP makes that quite troublesome, but your refraction takes care of that. I like that hero, but she just doesn't fit the current metagame of pubs, IMO.

No, the simile is wrong - first of all, it's "double edged sword". Secondly, it means that something has both advantages and disadvantages.

@Topic: I'm just beginning to play Lanaya after like 3 years of DotA I've never really found her skills attractive and always screwed up with Meld.
